While Charles was given credit for the couple's work for many years, both Charles and Ray Eames contributed enormously to their award-winning designs. With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look." Shortly after marrying in Michigan, where they worked together, the couple moved to Los Angeles and started their own office. They not only created many of the most iconic furniture pieces of the 20th century but dabbled in various art forms, including textile design and filmmaking.
