Born in Japan, Tomoko Azumi trained as an architect at Kyoto City University of Arts before studying furniture design at the Royal College of Art. Following a ten-year partnership at AZUMI, Tomoko opened t.n.a. Design Studio in 2005, to create projects that enhance daily life and its visual landscape. Alongside her design practice, she is involved with teaching, giving workshops, and acts as a member of design prize juries, including D&AD Design Award, UK; imm Köln Design Award, Germany; and Good Design Award, Japan. Her designs, like the Flow Chair for L.Ercolani, are synonymous with both stunning form and superb functionality. Tomoko received the Furniture Makers’ Company Design Guild Mark 2016 for excellence in furniture design for the Flow Chair.
