Akademia Chair

Designed by Wesley Walters and Salla Luhtasela, also known as duo Kaksikko, the Akademia Chair from Nikari is the piece that started it all. Born from Wesley Walters' Master's Thesis work at Aalto University, Helsinki, it is a design shaped by a genuine confluence of cultural influences: the directness of Finnish chair-making heritage, the disciplined simplicity of Shaker style, and the refined quietude of Japanese design traditions. The result is a chair that is immediately familiar and entirely its own. This chair combines a classic straight frame with a softly curved seat and backrest, crafted from sustainably grown oak or ash. It moves between settings with ease, working equally well at a dining table, a desk, or in a public environment.
