The No. 1 Sofa was the first sofa series Børge Mogensen designed for Fredericia, marking the beginning of a long-standing collaboration that helped define Danish modern furniture. Introduced in 1955, the design reflects Mogensen's belief that furniture should be practical, comfortable, and made to improve everyday life. A tightly upholstered frame is softened by loose, buttoned cushions that create a welcoming expression while allowing the sofa to be renewed over time. Built with an inner frame of solid wood and plywood, interchangeable solid wood legs, and replaceable HR or CMHR foam cushions, this sofa is designed for longevity as much as comfort.
