There is something wonderfully unfinished about the Carte Blanche Vase, as though a designer's first idea has been lifted from the sketchbook and given a life of its own. Created by Dutch designer Annebet Philips for Serax, the small porcelain vessel takes its shape from folded cardboard prototypes, preserving their uneven edges, angular folds, and charming imperfections. Deliberately irregular black lines are painted by hand across the white surface, tracing each facet with the spontaneity of a drawing. Playful yet sculptural, it brings a little imagination to a shelf, tabletop, or windowsill, whether holding a few delicate stems or standing beautifully on its own.
