SW50 Sofa

The SW50 Sofa stretches across the room with a long, beautifully composed horizontality that feels as much architectural as it does inviting. Designed by Illum Wikkelsø in 1959, its four-seat form leaves the oak structure deliberately visible, allowing slender rails and open space to give such a generous sofa an unexpected lightness. The slightly upright seat shifts the emphasis from sinking in to gathering together, creating a natural setting for conversation while softly textured upholstery keeps the experience warm and comfortable. Reintroduced by Gubi in its original proportions, this sofa is a study in restraint, where honest materials and precisely balanced lines do nearly all the talking.
