Flap Sofa

The Flap Sofa from Edra abandons the idea that a sofa should tell you how to sit. Designed as a slender, sinuous platform, its nine independently moving sections can each recline through six different angles, becoming a backrest, armrest, headrest, seat, or footrest according to the moment. Nearly horizontal, this sofa becomes a daybed or an expansive surface for working and relaxing. Raised and folded around the body, it transforms into an intimate seat or a generous gathering place. Beneath its seemingly effortless movement is an intricate steel mechanism and more than 180 individually shaped pieces of polyurethane, assembled by hand to create a sofa whose anatomy is always in motion.
