Poul Kjærholm Collection
Fritz Hansen
The PK Collection by Poul Kjærholm
A study in proportion, structure, and restraint. Kjærholm treated steel with the respect once reserved for wood, creating designs that feel architectural, quiet, and enduring.
The designer
A cabinetmaker’s discipline, a modern material vocabulary
Trained as a cabinetmaker, Poul Kjaerholm approached furniture like construction. He cared about how pieces are made, how they carry weight, and how every junction reads. That rigor became his signature.
Steel was central to that thinking. Kjaerholm considered it a material worthy of artistic respect, pairing it with leather, cane, and wood to create forms that feel both precise and welcoming.
The PK Collection brings these designs together as a single, coherent point of view. Each piece is spare without feeling cold, and expressive without raising its voice.

Design stories
Structure first, comfort refined.
The PK Collection is defined by clarity. Components are reduced to essentials, assembled with intention, and elevated by exacting proportion. A single line of steel can become the entire gesture, strong, quiet, and uncompromisingly precise.
The PK25™ Element Chair captures that mindset. Created as Poul Kjaerholm’s final graduation project in 1952, it turns industrial material into something almost calligraphic, an elegant character in the room that reads as solidity and calm. It is design at a Danish modern zenith, then broadened by Kjaerholm’s new view of furniture. Less decoration, more structure, more meaning.
Steel as a craft material
Bent with cabinetmaker precision, structural, expressive, and beautifully exact.
Quiet proportions
Architectural lines that bring calm to a space, never decorative for its own sake.
Honest materials
Leather, cane, and wood used where they perform best and age with character.
Lasting relevance
Built on structure over trend so the pieces feel right year after year.
The PK Collection
A quiet iconography in steel, leather, and light.
Poul Kjaerholm’s designs distill structure down to essentials, then elevate it through material clarity and precise proportion. Explore the collection online to view configurations, finishes, and the full range of designs.
