Clearance: Compare furniture depth to your narrowest opening. If space is tight, confirm removable legs or plan a safe maneuvering path in advance.
Elevators: Measure the elevator door height, cabin depth, and weight capacity.

Creating space requires balancing large-scale pieces with enough breathing room.
The Social Gap: Keep 18" between sofa and coffee table.
Coffee Table Height: 1" to 2" lower than the sofa cushion.
Visual Balance: 1/2 to 2/3 the sofa length.
Arm Height: Side tables within 2" of sofa arm height.
A dining room should facilitate conversation and allow unhindered movement.
The 3-Foot Rule: 36" from table edge to wall.
Elbow Room: 24" to 30" per person.
Chandelier Height: 30" to 36" above tabletop.
