by Knoll

Sink into history and ultimate comfort with the iconic Womb™ Chair by Knoll, designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948 to redefine relaxation. A true trailblazer of its time, this chair broke free from traditional design norms, embracing both innovative techniques and a revolutionary approach to comfort. Inspired by the nurturing embrace of a womb, Saarinen crafted a chair that adapts to your every posture, whether you’re lounging, reading, or simply daydreaming. Its organic form is as much about aesthetics as it is about function, making it a centerpiece that’s both sculptural and inviting. As Saarinen aptly said, “Now, more than ever, we need to relax”—and this chair delivers with timeless style and unparalleled coziness. Whether in a modern living room or a mid-century-inspired space, this chair transforms any room into a haven of sophisticated comfort.

  • Classic Boucle: rich, nubby texture evocative of traditional hand woven upholstery textiles.
  • Ultrasuede:  premier microfiber with a soft, plush feel and luxurious appeal. This upholstery is extremely durable, stain-resistant, breathable, and easy to clean. It is the first of its kind to use partially plant-based polyester.
Volo Leather: a lightly corrected, aniline leather with a slightly raised grain texture. A special retannage enriches the leather and tightens the grain, giving a level of quality superior to other corrected leathers.
  • Acqua Leather: durable, water-resistant leather produced from hides originating in northern Italy, southern Germany, and Switzerland. A combination of a special retannage and finishing process results in leather that is water-resistant and anti-microbial.
  • Sabrina Leather: a full grain leather, ideal for those seeking elegant, fine-grained leather for high-traffic use.
