When it comes to design, some brands follow trends. Zanat sets them. This Bosnian-born, globally adored furniture maker doesn’t just create pieces. It weaves history, craftsmanship, and modern elegance into spaces that feel like they’ve always belonged. From sun-soaked residences in Australia to Michelin-starred dining rooms in the French Alps, Zanat’s notable projects are as diverse as they are unforgettable. Let’s take a tour.

Spaces to Live In, Stories to Tell

Sage House – Melbourne, Australia

Designed by Carole Whiting, Sage House feels like a quiet exhale in the middle of Melbourne’s bustle. Natural timbers meet Zanat’s sculptural furniture, creating a space that is both refined and human. With its soft palette and sunlit textures, it required furniture that felt as gentle as its design.

But the dining room is where it all comes together. Here, Zanat’s Unna Dining Chair, sculpted by Monica Förster, brings luxury and warmth in perfect harmony. Their softly curved wooden backs and hand-carved patterns invite you to linger mid-meal. Every dinner feels like a warm embrace. The craftsmanship is so tactile you’ll want to run your hands along the carved surfaces like they’re part of a secret handshake.

Gert and Karin Wingårdh Summerhouse – Gothenburg, Sweden

Imagine a 17th-century cottage on the Swedish west coast waking up to modern light. That’s the magic architect Gert Wingårdh and his equally brilliant wife Karin conjured in their weekend retreat near Gothenburg. They peeled back original walls, raised the ceiling, and invited in daylight like a guest of honor. Not only does this sanctuary feel timeless, it earned its stripes by being nominated for the Australian Interior Design Awards in 2020.

But it’s the furniture that seals the story. The couple hand-selected bespoke Zanat pieces—Tattoo Stools, Café Tattoo Chairs, and the sculptural Branchmark Table—all with custom finishes to match their vision for Äggdal. These pieces are characters in a story, carved and colored to echo the cottage’s mix of simplicity and soul.

From Suite to Spa

Concepció by Nobis – Palma de Mallorca, Spain

In a 16th century soap factory turned design hideaway, where arches whisper history and hand made tiles hum local character, Wingårdhs and Nobis have created something extraordinary. This is Scandinavian sophistication with a Mediterranean pulse, every corner steeped in story and style.

Behind the warmth of oak carpentry, woven textiles, polished brass, and cool steel sits the unexpected magic: Zanat’s sculptural furniture. In each guestroom, handcrafted Nera Stools by Monica Förster turn bedside tables into design statements; quiet, functional artworks echoing the wood-carving tradition of Bosnia. Alongside them, the Piano Tables by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba add a sleek, modern melody.

These hand-carved pieces sit in harmony with bespoke watercolor-style floor tiles in green and white works, made by local artisans at Huguet, and the softly reworked historic vaults and beams. In the lounge and corridors, communal furniture fosters a warm, open-hearted vibe.

In Concepció, every element is intentional. Heritage and modernity entwine, and Zanat’s coffee table artistry gives each room its heartbeat. It is a place where old world architecture flirts with Nordic restraint, creating a memory worthy design moment where Mallorca meets Stockholm in perfect conversation.

Hotel Sonnenburg – Lech am Arlberg, Austria

Perched in one of Austria’s premier ski destinations, Hotel Sonnenburg is a five-star family retreat that charms as much in summer as it does in winter. In 2018, Schriebling Architects gave several suites a thoughtful remodel that feels both respectful of tradition and quietly modern.

In the hotel's lobby, Zanat’s Touch Sideboard and Touch Stool, both by Studioilse, bring a warmth that is instantly felt. The sideboard offers clean, architectural lines softened by subtle hand-carved patterns that invite your fingertips to linger. It is a storage piece that feels like it was made for this setting, rooted in craft yet refined enough to sit comfortably in a luxury alpine hotel. The matching stool carries that same tactile language, functioning as extra seating or understated sculptural accents. Down in the pool area, the mood shifts but the craftsmanship remains. Here you find Jasna Mujkić’s Quiet Stool, adding texture and authenticity to a space designed for relaxation after a day on the slopes.

Together, these pieces make Hotel Sonnenburg feel less like a place you visit and more like a place you inhabit. They echo the quiet beauty of the surrounding mountains and the rich traditions of alpine hospitality, all while carrying the unmistakable DNA of Zanat’s hand-carved artistry.

Panorama Suites at Interalpen Hotel – Telfs, Austria

Imagine a mountain hideaway at 1,300 meters elevation where every window frames Tyrol’s dramatic peaks and five-star comfort meets alpine authenticity. In spring 2019, Monoplan introduced the Panorama Suites, redefining upscale mountain stays with a philosophy of “Natural. Luxury.” Oak floors and elegant natural stone bring textural clarity to every corner, crafting a space that feels as alive as the landscape.

Zanat’s Touch Collection by Studioilse steps in with subtle strength. A Touch Console anchors each suite, its clean architecture softened by hand-carved details that beg you to linger. Nearby, Touch Benches offer rest and story in equal measure. Nestled in corners, Touch Stools punctuate the scene with organic poise and tactile charm while the Touch Lamp creates soft illumination.

Thanks to these pieces, the suites feel less like accommodations and more like expressions of alpine serenity with just the right amount of Scandinavian soul. Zanat’s furniture doesn’t compete with the view. It complements it, rising like understated sculptures that celebrate both nature and craft.

Hotel Ett Hem – Stockholm, Sweden

Tucked into a charming Arts and Crafts townhouse built in 1910, Hotel Ett Hem offers visitors something rare in the world of luxury stays: a feeling of owning the place rather than just staying there. Studioilse, led by Ilse Crawford, pulled off this transformation with finesse—preserving the original character while making every corner feel quietly elegant and deeply personal. Communal rooms invite guests to linger, talk, and feel at home.

It’s in the winter garden, a sanctuary of soft light and quiet luxury, where Zanat’s craftsmanship truly shines. The Unna Dining Chair by Monica Förster was chosen for this space and it makes a delightful statement. With its gently rounded silhouette and options for hand-carved detailing, the chair balances functionality with soul. It enhances the airy, serene atmosphere, offering a seat that feels like a thoughtful gesture.

Across publications and cozy recommendations, Ett Hem consistently ranks among the world’s best small luxury hotels. It’s featured in Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List (2025), The Telegraph’s “The 50 Greatest Hotels in the World” (2016), and even appears in Netflix’s Abstract: The Art of Design. It’s lovely, enduring proof that design can genuinely feel like home.

Quality Hotel River Station – Drammen, Norway

Rising as Drammen’s tallest landmark, Quality Hotel River Station opened in 2019 with a fresh take on design-forward hospitality in the Nordic capitals. With 247 thoughtfully styled rooms, eight meeting spaces, a buzzing bar, and a sophisticated restaurant, the hotel celebrates comfort, clarity, and calm. It offers views of rolling hills and urban edge, serving as a home-away-from-home for travelers.

It’s within this serene canvas that Zanat’s pieces bring personality and warmth. The restaurant interiors lean into visual and tactile grace with the Unna Dining Chairs, an award-winning design by Monica Förster featuring precision carving and softly sculpted wood forms.

Throughout the lobby and bedrooms, the Unna Lounge Chairs continue to work their magic, offering texture and coziness in a sleek silhouette that blends Nordic minimalism with comfort. And as unexpected sculptural punctuation throughout shared spaces, Nera Stools bring a nod to craftsmanship and quiet elegance.

Together, these pieces make the hotel feel more than stylish and  intentionally human. Zanat furniture threads warmth through the minimalist palette, reminding guests that good design is the subtle heartbeat behind why a place feels just right.

Hotel Le Chabichou – Courchevel, France

Set amidst the fairy-tale slopes of Courchevel, Hotel Le Chabichou has been a gourmet and alpine icon since 1963. Known for its celebrated two Michelin-starred restaurant, it has long been a destination for skiers and food lovers alike. In 2019, Patriarche & Co completed a sensitive renovation that honored its heritage while gently whispering in modern elegance. Natural and warm materials—like stone, soft woods, and tactile textiles—now weave a fresh, artful narrative through the historic chalet-esque interiors.

What gives the renovation its subtle heartbeat is Zanat’s contribution. Strategically placed throughout common areas and guest suites, Nur Mirrors by Monica Förster introduce soft contours, carving subtle movement into the walls that harmonizes with the surrounding textures and tones.

Meanwhile, Nera Stools by the same designer appear as quiet sculptures, offering seating that looks at home in this refined mountain setting. Their sculptural simplicity complements the alpine stonework and rich fabrics, gifting guests a sense of craftsmanship that gently echoes across each space

Where Craftsmanship Meets Cuisine

Tako Restaurant – Stockholm, Sweden

Hidden downstairs in the Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza, Tako Restaurant transforms a former nightclub basement into an immersive world where Scandinavian, Japanese, and Korean design converges under the name Tako, meaning dragon or octopus. Guests descend into glowing jewel-tone interiors—intimate, layered, and rich with texture—where levels, lighting, and material evoke the backstreets of Tokyo in the heart of Stockholm.

Seating for 180 extends easily to 300 when the night is alive, with nooks and partitioned corners that keep every guest in their own world yet part of the collective hum. The design is bold, moody, and theatrical, and Zanat’s furniture fits it all with subtlety and craftsmanship.

The real design whisperer in this space is the Unna Dining Chair by Monica Förster. Eighty of these award-winning sculptural chairs anchor Tako’s seating layout. With softly rounded forms and hand-carved detail, they bring comfort, rhythm, and tactile luxury to a space that feels both exotic and familiar. In a setting where lighting and levels demand drama, this hair offers quiet sophistication that's supportive, beautiful, and enduring.

Tako’s accolades underline its design impact from being a finalist in the INSIDE World Festival of Interior Awards to making the shortlist for the 2018 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. It’s a nocturnal voyage where every seat—you guessed it, especially the ones crafted by Zanat—becomes part of the story.

Restaurant Positano Yes – Stockholm, Sweden

Perched on the second floor of the prestigious NK department store, Restaurant Positano Yes is where Mediterranean zest meets Scandinavian poise. Designed in 2019 by Monica Förster Design Studio in collaboration with Wingårdhs and Zanat, this is not your run-of-the-mill eatery. It’s an Italian garden in Stockholm with hand-crafted lemons in the identity and an impressive green-toned wooden bar that's bold, lush, and alive.

Almost the entire furnishing story here is Zanat. The star player is the Sana Chair, an award-winning piece by Monica Förster known for its elegantly arched, hand-carved back. It glides into the space with sculptural flair while remaining utterly comfortable. Its design sibling, a custom Sana Barstool, stands at the green bar, echoing the chair’s form and craftsmanship but with bar-height poise. Dining tables here are also bespoke, featuring specially carved motifs that add rich texture and visual detail across the bright courtyard seating area.

This pairing of design and hospitality didn’t go unnoticed. Positano Yes picked up the prestigious Guldägget 2020 award in Identitetsdesign and earned a D&AD Pencil Award, a nod to how seamlessly identity, space, and furniture tell a layered, welcoming story.

The Soul of Zanat's Interiors

Across continents and contexts, Zanat’s work proves that true design transcends style and trend. Whether in a sunlit Australian home, a reimagined Spanish factory, or a Michelin-starred alpine retreat, their furniture shapes its soul. Each piece is a conversation between hand, material, and history, carrying Bosnia’s wood-carving legacy into the present with quiet confidence. In a world obsessed with the next big thing, Zanat’s designs remind us that the most enduring stories are the ones carved with care.
