These Blackline Serving Boards by Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. utilize a natural reactive process to give the wood its distinctive dark finish. No pigments are used to create this color; the unique technique makes use of the tannic acid inherent in white oak to develop a deep, durable, food-safe dye. Available in a small or large cutting/serving board or in a paddle board size.
As with most natural processes, some variation in color is to be expected. Natural dyes will "wear" over time, developing a rich patine that is special to the object and how it is being used. Wash all Blackline kitchenware with soap and water before initial use and after each use (some color may bleed initially).
Small Board: 8" W x 16" L (including handle)
Large Board: 8" W x 20" L (including handle)
Paddle Board: 5" W x 26" L (including handle)
After years working in the furniture and interiors industry Joshua Vogel created Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. as a way to explore small scale product design and manufacturing, and to reconnect himself with the practice and idea of handmade goods.
All Blackcreek Mercantile's products are made locally in its Kingston, New York studio. The company seeks to connect good ideas with great materials through simple processes that, in turn, connects customer directly to the essence of the work. The goal is to create enduring, beautiful and functional objects that you will love to use as much as they love to make them... from their hands to yours.
