Project Spotlight: A renovated mid-century Austin ranch stays true to its Texas roots
It’s been a while since our last Project Spotlight, but we can’t wait to dive back in and explore this newly-renovated Austin home full of unique and inspiring details. This small Texas ranch is nestled near Zilker Park, which sits at the juncture of Barton Creek and the Colorado River, comprised of nearly 350 acres of publicly owned land. A short walk to Austin City Limits, the home is now an easy place to explore the busting artistry of the city and its idyllic surroundings. The wonderful Mark Ashby Design transformed this small home into a dynamic, mid-century modern escape. The home underwent an intensive remodel, with its kitchen, sunken den, and bathrooms completely reimagined. It’s inspiring in its transformation — but more so in its attention to detail. Every aspect, from built-in textures and furniture to custom terrazzo tile, is thoughtfully designed, placed, and styled. The end result is a modern, streamline retreat that remains effortlessly Austin.

Product Spotlight: BK 11 Lounge Chair
This is a continuation of the product spotlight series in which one member of the team covers a design of their choosing! We hope to break down design in a way that is digestible and focused and tell the story of just how your favorite lounge chair or table made its way from a designers sketch to our showroom. And if you’d ever like to see a particular product featured, please let us know. This week, one of our design sales associates, Taylor, is up to speak about a lovely Carl Hansen outdoor piece!

Product Spotlight: The Little Petra Lounge Chair
In an effort to share all the knowledge housed in the brilliant brains of everyone on the team, we're starting a monthly product feature where one lucky Lekker team member will do a write-up on something new, something old, something silver ... you get the idea! We hope to break down design in a way that is digestible and focused, like our project spotlight series, and to tell the story of just how your favorite lounge chair or table made its way from a designers sketch to our showroom. And if you'd ever like to see a particular product featured, please let us know!
This week Laura is spotlighting the Little Petra Chair by &Tradition.

We're back here for another Friday with the project spotlight series – this week we wanted to share with you a home in Tel Aviv by Lindsay Bentis of Thread Art and Design! Bentis, a Los Angeles Native, established Thread in 2006 and specializes in residential design and construction consultation. She consistently creates interiors that are imaginative, complex, and pushing the boundaries of modern all at the same time. This special project in particular has filled us with all the hopefulness of spring and dreams about the long list of places we want to travel in the coming year.

Project Spotlight: A New York Home's Scandinavian Time Capsule
It's been a while since we've done a project spotlight – so much has been going on: we're opening a new showroom this year, adding more brands to our portfolio, and keeping up with everything in between. We can't wait to share more updates with all of you, but until then we'll share some good design. Today we wanted to explore a project that couldn't reflect Scandinavian design sensibility more – whimsy, color, and pattern working together from the brain of Michelle Sabin. This project inspires us in so many ways from the incredible color balance, ornate classic wallpaper, and quirky animal influences.

A Dinner Party The Wandering Art House Way - A Photo Essay
A recent project we were lucky enough to be a part of is a new art venture/partnership between stylist Janine Maggiore and florist extraordinaire Krissy Price (you may know her as Boston Pollen) – called The Wandering Art House. They're two creatives with overlapping talents that when combined, make art in a way that is almost superhuman. Stationed in a beautiful home in Merida, Mexico their goal is for the house is to be a retreat location for artists of all sorts: "It is a home for focused, intentional moments to develop and pursue creation in any medium." Although we couldn't make it down to experience their magic live and in-person, a ton of Lekker designs took the trip to be a part of the adventures. And thanks to the amazing photography by Krissy, you can imagine you were there, too.
We wanted to share a photo essay with you all – to reflect on the beauty of collaboration,

The Life of Florence Knoll
In January, the design icon known as Florence Knoll Bassett, "Shu" to her friends, and a leader in modern American design – passed away at 101 years young. We wanted to pay homage to her in the only way we knew – tell her story, share her work, and reflect on all she's contributed to design as we know it.
Early Life
Florence was an orphan who through her foster family found herself attending a boarding school in Michigan designed by Eliel Saarinen. Through her interest in architecture, she ended up being taken under the Saarinen family wing (yes, that Saarinen family).
After Kingswood, Florence worked alongside Harry Bertoia

Meet the woman who runs our website: Lauren
This is a continuation of the Lekker Profile Series where we're getting personal with each member of the team. We hope you enjoy getting to know us.
Lauren Kelly
Empathy and understanding are buzz words everyone is constantly trying to find "more" of - peeling them away from the egos of themselves and others. Though these things can always be bettered or challenged, there is something special about those who could have taught a masterclass since birth. And it's no secret that around here, peak thoughtfulness is defined by Lauren. From understanding the intricacies of fast-fashion to lead times to Korean horror – the woman of many talents who runs our website is good at everything she does because she is a natural observer. Lauren was nine when she asked her mom for Christmas if they could each pick a research topic to give a presentation about – her genuine interest in being critical

Project Spotlight: A Milton Feat of Ancient Practices
This week we wanted to cover a project by our friends at LDa Architecture and Interiors that's full of light and air to contrast from daylight savings ruining our perception of harmony. This project, in particular, is philosophically based on the principles of Vastu Shastra, a traditional Hindu system of architecture.

Meet our Buying and Merchandising Manager: Laura
This is a continuation of the Lekker profile series where we're getting personal with each member of the team. We hope you enjoy getting to know us.
Laura Pierce
There is a quiet force about Laura. She's soft-spoken and intentional, always taking in her surroundings before showing her hand. Laura is our buyer, the curator of our vendor relationships, and has one of the most technical jobs in our cloud of creatives.
As a kid, Laura had a proclivity for technical precision – toying with the childhood idea of being a vet, perfecting the craft of horseback riding, and thinking she would pursue dentistry in college. But she eventually learned that she wanted a technical job within a creative industry, and finding that was a whole different game.
Laura started out with the idea that textiles would be her niche.
