AJ Royal Pendant

Architectural clarity meets luminous elegance in the AJ Royal Pendant by Louis Poulsen. Designed in 1957 by legendary Danish architect Arne Jacobsen for the iconic SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, this pendant remains one of the most recognizable expressions of Scandinavian modern lighting. Jacobsen conceived this lamp as part of a complete architectural vision for the hotel. Every detail was carefully considered. Furniture, lighting, and interior elements worked together to create a unified design language. The pendant’s segmented spherical form marked a turning point in Jacobsen’s work as he returned to the pure geometric shapes that would define his later masterpieces.
