PK9™ Tulip Chair

Sculptural, sensual, and instantly recognizable, Fritz Hansen's PK9™ Chair, often called the Tulip Chair, is one of Poul Kjærholm’s most poetic expressions of Danish modern design. Its organic form feels almost grown rather than built, balancing softness and strength in a way only Kjærholm could achieve. The chair rises from three pieces of satin-brushed stainless spring steel that function simultaneously as legs, column, and structure. They carry a leather seating element shaped for comfort and visual lightness. The inspiration is famously human. A sand imprint left behind after a day at the beach became the starting point, later refined through hands-on experimentation as Hanne Kjærholm tested the form in clay to perfect its ergonomics.
