Nelson™ Spindle Clock
Vitra
by Vitra
Step into a world where time meets art with the Nelson™ Eye Clock from Vitra. This stunning timepiece, conceived by the legendary George Nelson in 1947, is a perfect blend of innovation and elegance. Nelson was a visionary, realizing that the true essence of a clock lay in the movement of its hands rather than the numbers they pointed to. With wristwatches on everyone's wrists, he saw clocks as a canvas for creative expression. Launched in 1949 as part of a groundbreaking collection of fourteen timepieces, this clock is a playful yet sophisticated tribute to Nelson’s revolutionary design thinking. Its eye-catching design features a sleek, minimalist style with a vibrant splash of color, making it a standout piece on any wall. Over the next thirty-five years, Nelson Associates created more than a hundred clock models, each showcasing a unique blend of materials, shapes, and colors. Though Nelson passed away in 1986, his incredible archive—comprising around 7,400 design elements—found a new home with the Vitra Design Museum. Reintroduced by Vitra in 1999, this clock design continues to captivate with its modern charm and reliable quartz movement. It’s not just a clock; it’s a conversation starter, a design statement, and a functional piece of art all rolled into one.
