PP Møbler's Valet Chair turns the rituals of dressing into an extraordinary piece of woodworking. Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1953, it transforms the familiar valet stand into a functional sculpture, beginning with a carved backrest that rises into a hanger for a jacket or coat. The sculpted seat is hinged, lifting upright so trousers can be folded neatly across it while revealing a concealed compartment for keys, a wallet, and other small belongings beneath. Every function is resolved through the craft itself, from the contrasting wood joints to the brass hinges, making this one of Wegner's most ingenious expressions of beauty and utility in a single object.
