Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1966 after five years of deliberate experimentation, the Oksen™ Lounge Chair became the largest and most provocative chair he ever produced. A sharp angular departure from the soft organic forms that made him a household name in modern design, when this chair first appeared it shocked the design world. Where Jacobsen's earlier icons like the Egg™ Lounge Chair and the Swan™ Chair traded in curves and cocoon-like comfort, this lounge chair went in the opposite direction. Its bold geometric presence commands a room with the kind of quiet authority that only truly confident design can pull off.
