Iconic, quintessentially British brand Anglepoise produces an incomparable series of practical, energy-efficient task lamps. Their lighting is known for pioneering a perfect balance mechanism that has been in use since the 1930s.
Their story began in 1931 when an automotive engineer named George Carwardine developed a concept for balancing weight using springs, cranks, and levers. Using springs with constant tension, Carwardine created a task lamp that's position could be changed with the lightest touch and would maintain the new orientation once released.
Shortly after the launch of that original task lamp, Anglepoise re-developed the design for residential interiors by creating a three-spring version, known now as its famous Original 1227™ lamp. Since then, Anglepoise has made lighting for the Navy, the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, and offices, hotels, and restaurants worldwide. Lekker Home is proud to be Boston's only showroom for Anglepoise.
