Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm is a staple of Danish design, having created several award-winning pieces of furniture. Kjærholm started as a cabinetmaker but, unlike his contemporaries, did not use wood as a primary element in his designs. Mainly using steel, believing it was also a natural material, Kjærholm created furniture unlike any other at the time. Devoting much of his life to teaching, Kjærholm was in many ways an unassuming designer, despite his unquestionably inspired pieces, "The important thing is to express the personality of the material - not mine."
