An Exclusive Tour of our Gus* Modern x Cape Cod Collaboration

With the current state of the world, we're trying to uphold positivity in all forms – inspiration for spending a little more time inside, distraction with our favorite elaborate recipes or small luxuries, and taking plenty of walks for that vitamin D.

Since we've postponed our Boston Design Week event until Summer 2020, we wanted to grant a breath of fresh air to our readers with an exclusive tour of our collaboration with Cape Cod Modern House Trust and Gus* Modern.

We worked with Gus* to provide pieces for two Wellfleet homes restored by CCMHT. In case you're unfamiliar with their work, CCMHT is a grassroots org founded in 2007 that works on the preservation and restoration of modern architecture throughout the Cape – they fight for its past, present, and future history. We can't wait to show you the first look.

The Wallace Sofa is sitting pretty in the living room of the Kugel/Gips, featuring a Saarinen Side Table, a Ethnicraft Tray, and Ferm Champagne Saucers.

This cozy reading nook is currently where we'd like to jet off to. How cute is Model C from the Cork Family?

When building the Kugel/Gips house Zehnder’s was greatly inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright as well as the Cape’s terrain and climate, with the home pinwheeling around a massive hearth and taking advantage of the amazing views of its northeast pond. Since its restoration, the Kugel/Gips house has hosted numerous artist/scholar residencies.

The colorful expanse ft. the Atwood Sofa!

The Kohlberg House was built by Luther Crowell, a designer/builder and Cape native who descended from early Cape Cod ship captains. He wasn't trained as an architect, but very much so echoed his modernist peers in all of his projects. Fun fact: He designed and built over 100 houses in Wellfleet. CCMHT started the restoration of the Kohlberg House in October 2018 and completed it in June 2019. Before they rescued it from demolition, the property was vacant and in decay for over seven years.

Also on the Kohlberg property is this insanely cool A-frame from the 70s that we were obsessed with. See the outdoor shower?!
